I hope everyone has had a restful break and a great start to 2025.

With term one about to start, I would like to give our school community an update on the recruitment of the new Executive Principal.

Principal appointment committee
I’m pleased to share a Principal recruitment appointment committee has been set up to oversee and ensure a fair, transparent and effective process for the recruitment of our new Executive Principal. We will consult with this committee throughout the recruitment process.

This group is Deaf-led and brings a diverse range of perspectives, knowledge and experience in Deaf education. The group members are:

• Sam Te Maari (Turi Māori, former Board member and staff member)

• Jen Smith (Turi Māori, former Board member)

• Dr David McKee (Deaf, former Board member and current NZSL Board member)

• Chris Sinclair (Deaf, Staff member and Staff Rep)

• Sina Aiolupotea-Aiono (Parent of Deaf Child, former Board member)

I would like to thank each member for their valuable time and input so far and look forward to continuing to work with them throughout this process.
